NYPD cop removes possum from Manhattan window ledge

An NYPD officer used only his hands to grab a possum by the tail and remove it from the window ledge of a Manhattan office building Thursday morning.

Cops from the NYPD’s Emergency Services Unit showed up at the building on Lafayette Street near East 4th Street in Noho around 9:40 a.m. after maintenance workers called to report a critter that somehow made its way to a first-floor ledge.

Cops used a riot shield to block the animal from moving while one of them — wearing work gloves — grabbed the possum by the tail before the officers carted it away in a crate.

The entire operation only took minutes. It was unclear where the possum was taken.
