One person was killed and two more injured Thursday in a wild crash in Queens when a driver slammed into two cars — and propelled a minivan into a check-cashing store, police said.
The chain reaction unfolded at around 5:35 a.m. on Jamaica Ave. near the Van Wyck Expressway ramp in Jamaica when a 45-year-old man driving a silver Lexus ES 350 sped through the light and crashed into a black Toyota Camry, according to cops.
The Lexus driver continued westbound on Jamaica Ave., and then struck a Honda Odyssey minivan with such force, it was sent flying into the nearby Challenger Checks Cashing, police said.
EMS responded to the scene and found the driver of the Lexus unconscious and unresponsive in the driver seat, according to authorities. He was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The two other drivers – a man and a woman – were also taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries and were in stable condition, cops said.
The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad will determine the cause of the crash.
