Who is in the bodybag? Hollyoaks star drops huge hint on who dies

Hollyoaks had the nation talking at new year when the soap fast forwarded an entire year with some sneaky clips into the future – and one of the biggest questions still on our lips is just who dies as John Paul McQueen was seen wailing in despair beside a body bag.

It seems like we may have to wait a while to find out, with the scene not due to air until New Year’s Eve (we’re sure the time will fly by!) but actor James Sutton has confessed that he is in on the secret.

And he has dropped some subtle clues – given he is about to embark on a relationship with PC George Kiss (Callum Kerr), could the copper be doomed?

We caught up with him recently and he said: ‘That was a big moment wasn’t it? Yep, George could be in the body bag. The only clue the audience have is that John Paul looked visibly devastated – so it has to be someone close to him.

‘I know more than most people about who’s in there. It’s somebody close to John Paul and that’s all you have to go on just now – and there are months for it to build and fill the blanks.

‘A huge amount of characters are involved in the storyline – it could be so many people in this body bag. It could even be John Paul in there – that could have been his ghost. Never rule anything out!’

Let’s hope not as John Paul is loved by many – not least of all James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) who will do all he can to win his ex back despite him moving on with George.

James sighed: ‘James shot John Paul’s sister, I don’t know how you come back from that! James is a guy who wants to be loved, there is truth there and he does love John Paul.

‘But he is a damaged individual and John Paul wants to do whatever is best for his son. Having James in his life is probably not the best right now – but maybe in the future, they could patch things up.’

He added: ‘Nothing is straight forward and there will be drama. But I get to work with Greg which is always good fun and Callum has come in, a lovely bloke, not too bad on the eye for the audience! Don’t look directly into his eyes or you’ll fall in!

‘Having men fight over me, it’s a tough job but someone’s got to do it! Hollyoaks has a great history of love triangles and they are a joy to play – the writers relish this kind of thing. It’s a new dynamic for John Paul having a relationship with a police officer, given the McQueens aren’t always on the straight and narrow.

‘So we will have some scenes of joy and humour which is what John Paul is all about right now. We were very keen to bring him back as a changed man and that he is happy, confident man who knows who he is.

‘John Paul’s first priority is his son so anyone that comes into his life has to be a solid role model – what better than a police officer, or so we’d like you to think!’
