This Morning fans want Craig Doyle to replace Phillip Schofield in huge shake-up

This Morning viewers demand ITV bosses replace Philip Schofield with Craig Doyle following his successful debut.

The Irish presenter has gone down a storm following his appearance on the morning programme alongside Alison Hammond, 47, on Monday (May 2).

It was announced before Monday’s episode that a newcomer would be hosting with Alison, who usually presents This Morning with Dermot O’Leary.

Craig is best known for presenting BT Sport and ITV’s Rugby World Cup coverage and his warm reception had viewers wanting more.

Fans have since taken to social media to share their opinions on his debut, with many insisting he returns for a regular spot and replaces the likes of Philip, 60.

One fan loved the switch-up and wrote: “The show is definitely more genuine, warm & friendly when Holly & Phil aren’t on it. Alison, Josie, Dermot, Vernon & Craig are all so much more likeable and relatable.”

Another said: “Craig and Josie would be a good pairing. Holly and Phillip need to step back from the show and carry on with all the other money-making shows they want to do.”

Some flustered viewers loved the latest newbie and vouched how David was a “breath of fresh air”.

They penned: “Absolutely loving Craig Doyle on @thismorning. He is a breath of fresh air. Please please make him a permanent presenter of the show. Better than Schofe.”

Another Craig fan said: “@thismorning Take note. Read the tweets. Listen to your viewers and TAKE NOTE. Craig Doyle for FULL TIME presenting instead of @Schofe #ThisMorning.”

Breaking the news about his recent hosting stint, Craig took to Instagram to share his excitement.

On Instagram, he posted a picture of himself standing outside the TV studios with his suitcases. He wrote: “So excited about hosting This Morning tomorrow. I have arrived 14 hours early for work!”

Craig started his career hosting the children’s programme Diggit on GMTV from 1998 to 2002 with Fearne Cotton and Reggie Yates.

This Morning continues tomorrow at 10 am with Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield.
