Clara Amfo is already worried about her mum’s reaction to her Strictly Come Dancing stint, and the competition hasn’t even kicked off yet.
The BBC Radio 1 host is among the celebrities taking part in this year’s competition, battling it out for the glitterball against a star-studded line-up, including Nicola Adams and Jacqui Smith.
While the 36-year-old is raring to go, she isn’t too excited about the prospect of performing a sexy rhumba with her mum watching on.
‘If I get the chance to rhumba, I know she’s going to feel a way about it,’ she said.
‘It can go one of two ways, because the rational side of her will understand that it’s just a dance.
‘The rhumba is very sensual, it’s different to other dances, where there’s a franticness to a Charleston, or a salsa or a samba… The rhumba is basically saying like, this is sex.’
Clara laughed: ‘When you watch two people do a rumba, you want to think, “Hang on, are those two….?”
‘She might feel a way but she’ll be alright.’
As well as the passionate rhumba, the star revealed her mum had also ‘shared some thoughts’ on what she will be wearing on the dance floor.
Side note: We’re not too sure Clara has much of a say…
The BBC star continued: ‘She’s like, “You just don’t have to wear something too short, it can just be down to your ankles, okay?”
‘I said, “Mum, look, there’s going be some dances that require me not wearing a lot of clothes just for the movement, to show off.”
‘She’s like, “Just make sure it’s sensible okay?” I’m just like, “Yeah, sure. All right hun, let’s see.”
Petition to get Clara’s mum on next year’s show?
