It’s been a tough couple of months for Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) in EastEnders, as she wrestled with her addiction to the booze, but the Queen Vic landlady has made a huge effort to give up the drink — something that’s a lot harder than she believed it would be. She relapsed during last night’s episode — and it’s this that leads both she and Mick (Danny Dyer) into making a big decision.
Linda vowed to give up alcohol after the boat party, as she came to realise that she was, in fact, an alcoholic. In the weeks that have passed, she’s managed to keep that promise — marking each and every day that she’s alcohol-free on a calendar.
However, during last night’s episode, Dennis’ (Bleu Landau) funeral arrived, and — with emotions running high — Sharon (Letitia Dean) lashed out at Linda, leaving the Carter matriarch incredibly upset.
Linda headed upstairs to make herself a cuppa, but the bottle of booze on the table became too hard for her to resist.
She took a drop, before realising that the bottle in question had been marked — suggesting someone had been testing her, and — during tonight’s episode — she’s caught red-handed by Shirley (Linda Henry).
When Mick shows up, Linda admits that she had a drink, and — as the episode progresses — she opens up to her beloved hubby, which ultimately gets him thinking.
As they read to Ollie, they come to a huge decision.
What is it that they’ve decided?
With spoilers for next week having indicated that the Carters toy with the idea of selling The Vic, will Mick ultimately decide to put the love of his life before his profession?
EastEnders continues Tuesday 31 March at 7:30pm on BBC One.
