Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) has been struggling to cope following there birth of her quads in Coronation Street, and mum Bernie (Jane Hazelgrove) is more convinced than ever that her daughter is suffering from post-natal depression — something which was more apparent than ever during tonight’s instalment as baby Aled heard for the first time, and poor Gemma didn’t feel celebrating.
Bernie copped on to Gemma’s despair several weeks back, and — in an effort to ensure her daughter is okay, she’s been staying with her as a result, and helping out as much as she can.
However, Gemma refuses to let Chesney (Sam Aston) know that she’s struggling emotionally, and thus Bernie has promised to keep her secret under the condition that she gets help, but the young woman has attempted to make out that she’s doing fine.
During tonight’s instalment, Chesney and Gemma headed to the doctors, where the audiologist fitted Aled with his new hearing aids, and the baby smiled with joy as he heard his mum and dad’s voices for the first time.
However, while Chesney was over the moon, Gemma didn’t feel like celebrating — and Bernie picked up on this and quizzed her on the matter, informing her that she needs help.
Gemma disagreed, and therefore asked Bernie to leave as — now that Aled is okay — she doesn’t need her anymore.
Bernie was shocked, but will she be able to convince Gemma otherwise?
The young woman needs help, but — with Gemma refusing to open up to Chesney — will she be able to get the help she needs?
