At the end of Power season five, there were some major deaths which shocked fans. From Kanan Stark (played by Curtis Jackson) getting shot and then killed when he drove into a lamp post, to Ghost’s (Omari Hardwick) true love Angela Valdes (Lela Loren) being murdered at the hand of his best friend Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora), the Starz drama kept everyone on the edges of their seats. WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Power.

Following the shocking deaths of both Kanan and Angela, fans expected a lot of the final series of Power.

Thankfully, they weren’t disappointed as in the first half of the season, the drama was built up with Ghost having more enemies than ever.

Then, in the last moment, a mysteriously shooter arrived at Truth nightclub, pulled the trigger on the drug kingpin which caused him to fall to his death from the balcony.

The series then went on a midseason hiatus before returning to reveal Ghost’s murderer.

Power dedicated its final few episodes to highlighting where all of the main suspects were at the time of the murder.

One by one, most of them were declared innocent of the crime until the finale unveiled the shooter’s identity: Ghost’s own son Tariq St Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr).

He wanted to take over the drug dealing business and couldn’t do that with his father standing in the way and so decided to kill him instead.

Tasha St Patrick (Naturi Naughton) was not willing to see her son go to prison though so when the police eventually came knocking, she took the blame.

The final season ended with Tasha serving a jail sentence for the murder of her ex-husband while Tariq went off to college for a chance at a better life away from the streets.

Why did 50 Cent change the Power theme song for season 6?

The theme tune of Power is called Big Rich Town and was performed by R&B artist Joe and Executive Producer and actor Curtis Jackson, better known to many as 50 Cent.

The song was released in April 2014, months before the official release date for Power’s first season.

Big Rich Town is about moving up in the crazy city that is New York by any means necessary and very much embodies the feel of Power.

Fans became used to hearing the same song before every new episode of the crime drama until the first episode of the final season aired.

While viewers should have been focussed on finding out what was next in store for Ghost following the death of Angela, many were left distracted.

This was because Jackson had decided to change the theme tune to a remixed version of Big Rich Town.

The new version was sung by Trey Songz featuring a verse from rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie.

Explaining his decision to TV Guide, Jackson said: “We wanted to offer a new energy without conceptually changing it.

“I even left four bars with the previous song because I was afraid to go [too far] away from it. It’s giving it a younger, fresher, vibe.”

However, this decision did not go well with fans of the show.
