Former rugby union player Ugo and his partner Oti Mabuse were sadly eliminated from the BBC ballroom over the weekend. Strictly Come Dancing professional and It Takes Two host Janette Manrara appeared on Morning Live on Monday, where she expressed her sorrow for the pair after their crushing result.

Ugo and Oti were voted out after their Rumba failed to impress the judges on Saturday night.

Strictly pro Janette, who has competed against Oti since series 13, paid her respects to the couple on Monday’s edition of Morning Live.

She explained: “And last night Oti and Ugo left the Strictly ballroom, unfortunately.”

“Gutted for them,” Janette added following their disappointing result from the judges.

After Ugo’s elimination on Sunday, Janette also took to her Instagram story to pay tribute to sports star’s time on the show.

She wrote: “This man is one of the LOVLIEST [sic] persons I have had the absolute pleasure to get to know!

“I will miss them on the show,” she added, finishing the caption with a love heart emoji.

Her story included the clip of Ugo and Oti’s farewell to the series after their dance-off against Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu.

He said: “I’ve loved it. It’s an absolute privilege to be on this show.

“All I’ve wanted to do every week is just get a little bit better and I’ve done that.”

Opening up about her time with Ugo, Oti said: “I stand here in this very moment feeling very, very grateful. I am so grateful to be partnered with you. Thank you for having me as a teacher, as a trainer.”

“I am grateful for the show – to say I work on the best show in the whole country, with the best celebrities is a privilege and I am very grateful to [Ugo], thank you.”

Oti and her partner comedian Bill Bailey won the Glitterball Trophy last year.

On Saturday’s show, Ugo returned to the dance floor after missing a week’s training following health concerns.

The former rugby union player was forced to visit the hospital and receive painful injections due to his back injuries.

Thankfully, he was able to perform his next dance without any trouble on Saturday.

However, Ugo and Oti were made to perform their routine a second time after scoring just 20 points from the panel.

Later on in the programme, Janette kept the Strictly fever going with the return of Morning Live’s popular Strictly fitness segment.

The dance pro took her co-presenters Gethin Jones and Dr Xand through a number of moves based on her Halloween performance with Aston Merrygold.

This year’s Strictly will be hosting its own Halloween special this weekend.

Morning Live airs from 9:15am on BBC One.
