Jane Moore speaks about losing her dog Jasper
Jane Moore was visibly moved as she detailed saying goodbye to her beloved pet Jasper.
During Wednesday’s instalment of Loose Women, the panellist told her co-stars the family dog was due to turn 16 soon but his health had taken a turn.
She said: “I knew it was coming, he hadn’t been very well. He was covered in tumours, he was blind and he was deaf.
“His leg started to give way and I knew that hanging onto him- we wanted to hang onto him but it wasn’t the right thing for him.
“He was having no quality of life.”

Taking a moment to compose herself, Jane told the panel she spoke to her vet who suggested it may be time to bring him in.
She continued: “I thought, I don’t want to take him to the vet because didn’t like the vet.
“But, they don’t come out to the house so I booked a vet to come to the house so that he was lying in his bed.”
Sharing more details, Jane told her co-stars this happened on Saturday morning a few weeks ago so her children would be there.

She added: “We could all say goodbye to him, so Friday night, he was allowed on the sofa for the first time in his life, never let him on the sofa
“We had a lovely goodbye with him, then the kids went off into a different room and I stayed with him when the vet did the deed.”
Admitting it’s a struggle to lose a pet, Jane confessed she was surprised at herself with how she struggled to decide to end his life.
Jane said: “I knew it was the kindness thing and the vet said it’ll probably be another two or three weeks if you want to wait for it to happen naturally, but then he could be in pain.”
The 61-year-old told the panel he had turned very quiet and had stopped eating anything apart from gravy.
She confessed the decision heavily affected her although she admitted Kaye Adams sent her a message which helped her in the situation.
Jane shared that when she saw Jasper wagging his tail she believed he was ok before making the decision.
Speaking about Kaye’s message, she added: “You said to me, ‘Isn’t it great that he’s going out wagging his tail’.”
Loose Women continues weekdays on ITV from 12.30pm.
