Fast and Furious 9 was recently released and continued the rambunctious journey of Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his Family. The team of reckless drivers has grown over the past few films to introduce a number of new female characters into their battle, including Helen Mirren, Nathalie Emmanuel, Eva Mendes, Charlize Theron and Michelle Rodriguez. Mia Toretto actor Jordana Brewster has now revealed they also wanted to employ Phoebe Waller-Bridge but missed their chance.

The latest James Bond film No Time To Die is due out at the end of the year, following a collection of delays due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The film also went through a number of changes, including hiring new writers, in order to perfect the final outing for Daniel Craig.

Waller-Bridge was hired as one of these writers in 2019, prompting her mark to be left on the franchise before the next James Bond was announced.

This, Brewster revealed, ruined her plans for the F9 franchise.

Brewster recently said: “Michelle and I were talking about [Waller-Bridge] right before she started writing for Bond.

“We were like: ‘She would be so awesome.’ And then we were like: ‘Damnit! They snagged her.'” (Via The Hollywood Reporter)

On how the writer would have helped the Fast franchise, she added: “I feel like Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s British, ironic humour would add a lot.”

Since then, Waller-Bridge has been placed in the next Indiana Jones movie, meaning she will certainly not be free to film a Fast movie anytime soon.

Brewster did go on to add that there is now a chance to switch gears for the franchise after stopping the end of the world multiple times.

She said: “There is … the opportunity to downsize it and go back to our roots with one, where there is a little less green screen and we don’t have to visit as many cool locations.

“So maybe it’s less of a risk for the studio and we can just make something awesome and run with it.”

Meanwhile, the next actor for the James Bond role is currently up in the air.

Rumours have been swirling that Tom Hardy would be taking over from Daniel Craig in the near future – but the latest odds don’t agree.

Leading bookmaker Ladbrokes give Hardy a strong 4/1 on becoming the next 007.

He has, however, been beaten by newcomer to the game, Rége-Jean Page.

The Netflix and Bridgerton star is currently the favourite for the bookies with an amazing 11/10.

Ladbrokes’ Alex Apati commented: “Regé-Jean Page has spent the best part of six months at the head of the Bond betting, and with every other name now on the drift, it looks like it’s his role to lose.”

Hardy and Page are followed by Idris Elba, who has 10/1 odds.

James Bond No Time To Die hits cinemas on September 30, 2021.

Fast and Furious 9 is in cinemas now.
