ITVs Good Morning Britain and Lorraine shake-up as Andi Peters replaces Lorraine Kelly

ITV daytime fans will notice that there’s a big change happening on our screens this week, as Good Morning Britain and Lorraine have joined forces for a super-sized show.

For the next five days, the ITV morning programmes, usually hosted by Susanna Reid and Lorraine Kelly, will be fronted by different presenters, while both are due to be broadcast from the GMB studio.

On top of this, Lorraine is changing its name to Good Morning Britain with Lorraine. This is in a bid to keep the hosts and backstage crews of GMB and Lorraine protected from spiralling Covid rates.

Announcing the decision, a Good Morning Britain spokesperson said: "Due to the pandemic, we have introduced some changes to protect our team both on and off screen."

However, that’s not the only thing to have changed in the last-minute shake-up.

Last week Lorraine Kelly told viewers that regular stand-in presenter Ranvir Singh would be at the helm this week.

However, a spokesperson for the ITV show has since clarified that it will be Andi Peters instead.

They explained: "Ranvir won't be with us this week to present Lorraine. Andi Peters is presenting the show on Monday."

Speaking about the changes on today’s instalment of Good Morning Britain, co-hosts Adil Ray and Charlotte Hawkins welcomed Andi to the studio.

Adil then said: “Andi’s in for Lorraine at 9am. You’re in the GMB studio!”

Andi, who was sitting at the end of the GMB desk, replied: “I know, it’s nice to be here. I’ll be doing Lorraine from here.”

“Obviously here at ITV we’ve enhanced our procedures, which means I’ll be using this studio to do Lorraine instead of using the Lorraine studio.”

The TV star then added: “This means we’ll be protecting our staff, and us, as well.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time that the GMB and Lorraine teams have joined forces in the past.

At the height of the pandemic last March ITV announced similar measures and filming on Loose Women was temporarily suspended.
