Horror is coming to your home on July 10. IFC Films has a new movie arriving to VOD called Relic, and the first teaser has arrived.
Relic has been getting a lot of buzz from critics, as it debuted at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Writer and director Natalie Erika James has a new take on the haunted house genre, and you can check out the first teaser trailer below.
Relic follows the story of Kay (Emily Mortimer) and her daughter Sam (Bella Heathcote), as they head to the home of Kay’s mother’s, Edna (Robyn Nevin), after she vanishes. Edna returns but won’t explain where she has been, and she becomes volatile, as some suspect a mysterious force from inside the house has taken control of her.
The film received a lot of buzz from critics at Sundance, Brian Tallerico of RogerEbert.com said, “This is a remarkable debut, a movie that deals with a common theme of Sundance 2020 (dementia) in a way that feels new and daring. It is not only our bodies and minds that will destroy us but when our loved ones leave us behind to face the demons on our own that damns us in the end.”
The movie is also coming to theaters on July 10 as well, but considering the COVID-19 pandemic, VOD or renting it from the comfort of your own home may be the better way to go.
