Dr. Drew Pinsky, who once downplayed Covid-19 as a “press-induced panic,” has revealed he has been infected.
Pinsky said in an Instagram post that he had strong symptoms of the coronavirus since Saturday. His infection was confirmed on Tuesday. His wife and children have tested negative.
“Thanks for checking in on me, I appreciate all the kind shout-outs,” he said in an Instagram post. The 62-year-old is recovering at his Southern California home.
Pinsky is the cohost of Fox-11 News Special Report along with Elex Michaelson. He also starred in the VH1 reality series Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, which examined the addictive disorders of a group of celebrities.
Pinsky apologized in April for his prior statements downplaying the coronavirus. “I wish I had gotten it right, but I got it wrong,” Pinsky said in a video. He had suggested Covid-19 was no worse than the flu and that the probability of dying of coronavirus was less than being hit by an asteroid.
