Corrie viewers outraged as Geoff gaslights Yasmeen for thinking STI is her fault

Coronation Street viewers were left fuming on Monday night after Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) convinced his wife Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) that it was her fault she got an STI.

After driving a wedge between Yasmeen and Cathy Matthews (Melanie Hill) with his coercive and gaslighting behaviour, Geoff took grim pleasure in telling his wife that her attitude had lost her a friend.

And as Yasmeen struggled to get her head around what had happened and blamed herself for upsetting Cathy, he insisted that they went up to the bedroom.

But when after Yasmeen started to feel unwell, she decided to go to the doctor.

Although when the doctor explained to her that she has an STI she looked confused as she said ‘I can’t have I have only slept with two men in my life.

‘How could this have happened?’

As she questioned further if the STI will ‘effect Geoff’s heart problem’ further suspicion arises as the doctor declined to answer.

Recalling what she found on Geoff’s laptop, Yasmeen is on edge when Geoff comes home and eventually she brings up her diagnosis with him tonight, asking how she got it.

While it’s clear that Geoff will do all that she can to try and turn the situation around against her, deep down Yasmeen knows the truth of the matter.

Viewers quickly took to social media to share their outrage as Geoff tried to gaslight his wife into thinking it was all her fault.

‘It looks like someone has been unfaithful, and it wasn’t me,’ he began.

‘You diseased-ridden old tart, it’s not nice for me when my Mrs comes home with the clap.

‘If anyone should be under suspicion it’s you.’

One fan raged: ‘Geoff is nasty evil man how can you treat women like that honestly no women should ever be treated like that evil evil man.’
