Corrie star 'signs up to I'm A Celeb to go head-to-head with EastEnders legend'

Coronation Street star Simon Gregson has reportedly signed up for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.

The actor, who plays Steve McDonald in the ITV soap, is said to be following in his on-screen mum Beverley Callard’s footsteps, after she took part in the series last year.

The report comes after it was claimed that EastEnders actor Adam Woodyatt had signed up for I’m A Celeb.

‘To have both Simon and Adam on this series is a real coup,’ a source told The Sun.

Speaking about Simon’s alleged participation in I’m A Celeb, the source continued: ‘Bosses know Corrie fans will get right behind him.

‘Everyone knows Simon as Steve but now they’ll get to see a completely different side of him for the first time.’

Metro.co.uk has reached out to Simon’s reps and Corrie for comment.

It was first claimed last week that Ian Beale star Adam had signed up for the ITV show.

According to The Sun, show bosses are ‘very excited’, and an insider revealed to the publication: ‘Adam was a big target for the casting team — he is a soap legend and is certain to be a huge hit with fans.

‘But they knew they might have their work cut out because he has been quite reticent to do interviews or reality TV shows in recent years.’

Adam has taken a break from EastEnders, and made his final appearance to date in the soap in January of this year.

Both Simon and Adam join the likes of Dame Arlene Phillips, 78, who is tipped to take part this series, and Coronation Street’s Lucy Fallon as speculation of the line-up continues.

I‘m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! returns later this year to ITV
