Corrie star reveals huge Faye danger as she is revealed as Adam's attacker?

After the Coronation Street residents spent weeks accusing different people of attacking and hospitalising Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson), tonight it was finally revealed that none other than Faye Windass (Ellie Leach) was the person behind the deadly attack.

In some dramatic scenes, Faye told Maria (Samia Longchambon) and Gary (Mikey North) it was her who attacked Adam, thinking he was Ray Crosby (Mark Frost) following his attempt at raping her.

Awash with guilt. Faye said how she plans to hand herself into the police, but Gary was determined to protect her, and headed off to dispose of the weapon.

Now Faye has been exposed as the attacker, and thinks the right thing to do is tell the police, what will happen next? Actress Ellie Leach revealed how long the true identity of Adam’s attacker can stay secret:

‘As long as she can keep a lid on it, really. I think she’s definitely at breaking point. She’s got such a huge weight on her shoulders and she doesn’t know what to do. She’s struggling because she wants to tell people, but if she does tell people, she thinks they won’t believe her.’

Gary is protecting Faye right now, and let’s not forget he murdered Rick Neelan (Greg Wood) in order to protect his family, so how far would he go this time to protect Faye? Ellie explained what she thinks:

‘I think he’d do anything for her, I genuinely do. Before their family adopted Faye, he didn’t have that relationship with anyone. Now that he’s got it and it’s been there for a few years, even though she is adopted, she is part of his family and part of his life. She is his sister so I think he’d literally go to the ends of the earth for her.’

Faye’s dark side is something we haven’t really seen a lot of during her time in Weatherfield, but as Ellie disclosed, her attack on Adam came from the anger Faye felt after Ray’s attack:

‘She told him no and he wouldn’t listen to her. She’d heard from people like Bethany, Abi and Craig – who were all warning her to stay away from him – and she didn’t listen.

So I think it’s the anger of that as well. She’s mad at herself because she should have listened when people warned her about him, and she wouldn’t have been in the situation in the first place.’

If Faye is revealed as the attacker, there’s a possibility she could be charged with attempted murder, but could this lead to Ellie’s character leaving the Street? She added her thoughts on the possibility of exiting:

‘I hope not! I think if she did go to the police and felt like that was the right thing to do for her, it is a serious crime and you do time for things like that. If she does go to the police and tells them what happened, and then ends up going to prison, I hope that it’s not forever.’
