Coronation Street viewers notice major flaw in Sean’s plan to host house party

Coronation Street fans were left scratching their heads during Monday's visit to Weatherfield as Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) tried to arrange a party to promote his latest business venture.

The barman and machinist informed pal Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) about his plans to host a gathering in their home in a bid to flog makeup to their neighbours.

However, eagle-eyed viewers were quick to point out that Sean is not meant to be hosting any gatherings because of the ongoing coronavirus restrictions.

Taking to Twitter, one fan moaned: "Sean wants to have all the neighbours over for a party in the middle of a pandemic."

Another added: "So Sean wants to host an Avon party…he'll need to adhere to the rule of six though."

A third person said: "Sean wants a party in lockdown.. last week it was a football match."

While a fourth fan wrote: "Sean, you can't have multiple households in your own home."

It's not the first time Sean has raised eyebrows during coronavirus lockdown.

Sean kindly agreed to take his son Dylan to watch Weatherfield County play last month.

The dad was frantic to learn that tickets for the match had sold out so went to his Weatherfield County footballer neighbour James Bailey for help.

There was more stress for Sean when he blew his budget by requesting hospitality tickets, not realising just how expensive it would be for a tour and visit to the players' lounge.

However, Corrie fans pointed out that the father and son trip to the game wouldn't be possible because of Covid-19 restrictions.

Fans can only attend football in the seventh tier and below of the football pyramid under government guidance.

Teams in the top six tiers of English football – the Premier League, The Championship, League One, League Two, National League and National League North and South – still have to play behind closed doors.

Weatherfield County is thought to be in the National League.

Coronation Street continues on ITV on Monday at 8.30pm
