Zeeden (played by Qasim Akhtar) was last seen on Coronation Street almost two years ago, following the break down of his marriage to ex-wife, Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia). Since then, he has been out of the picture but has been mentioned a lot recently after his sister Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) revealed he was getting remarried and wanted their grandmother Yasmeen (Shelley King) to join her in Spain for the ceremony. However, Geoff (Ian Bartholomew) has made sure she never made it on the plane, but will her grandson come back to the ITV soap to save the long-suffering pensioner?

The young restaurateur was always full of ambition and knew his own mind, becoming fiercely protective of his family following the death of father Kal Nazir (Jimi Mistry) and exit of grandfather, Sharif Nazir (Marc Anwar).
After setting up the Speed Daal restaurant, he discovered his ex-wife was having a secret affair with Kate Connor (Faye Brookes) and although he wasn’t happy, he agreed to keep his discovery a secret for the sake of Rana’s family.
Unfortunately, once the truth was out, he couldn’t cope with the memories he’d made in Weatherfield and made for pastures new, eventually selling his share of his business empire over to Yasmeen and Geoff, a man he’d never met.
With the pensioner not attending his wedding and Alya given the opportunity to voice her concerns about the villain to her brother, will he make a comeback alongside her when she returns to the cobbles in the coming weeks?

Tonight’s episode saw a breakthrough in the harrowing coercive control storyline, as Yasmeen finally stood up to her abusive husband and told him she was leaving to go to Zeedan’s wedding without him.
When he tried to stop her, she put her foot down and walked out, before arriving at Ayla’s door who was relieved her grandmother was seemingly free of Geoff’s control.
However, the sinister character manipulated his wife from afar, playing on fake health scare via text messages to make her feel guilty if she came back and he had died.
Venturing back to the Nazir household, the pensioner found a bloodied picture frame and with no sight of her other half, she was petrified he’d done something to himself.
Tell Zeedan I’m sorry
It was then she broke the news to Alya she wasn’t going to Spain for Zeedan’s wedding, putting Geoff’s well being ahead of seeing her grandson.
“I’d never forgive myself if I went away and Geoff did something to himself,” she told her granddaughter, to which the young woman wasn’t best pleased.
“That’s exactly why he’s doing this. He’s manipulating you and you’re falling for it,” the businesswoman hit back.
“I can’t take that chance. Geoff’s vulnerable,” Yasmeen replied, adding: “You just go without me. Tell Zeedan I’m sorry. I can’t give up on my husband.”

Angry by her grandmother’s response, Alya told her: “I give up. There is clearly no getting through to you.
“You’ll have missed your only grandson’s wedding and you’ll have no one to blame but yourself,” she said before storming out, but later reflected on her words as she said her goodbyes to boyfriend, Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott).
“After seeing that look in his eye the other day, she shouldn’t be on her own with him,” Zeedan’s sister exclaimed.
“We were so close to getting her away,” she added, but did this give her the idea to try and coax back her brother so they could both save Yasmeen from her ordeal?

Fiercely protective of his grandmother and having no idea just how volatile Geoff is, will Zeedan come back and take on the villain?
Viewers will have to wait and see but it seems the villain’s latest plan to ensure his wife didn’t leave him wasn’t entirely successful.
After returning home after the panic he caused, the abusive character revealed he’d cut his thumb on the picture, making Yasmeen realise she’d been fooled.
By the end of the episode, the pensioner was seeking advice to help her escape her husband’s evil clutches, but will her ordeal ever come to an end?
Coronation Street continues Wednesday at 7:30pm on ITV.
