WARNING: This story contains spoilers for Coronation Street
Coronation Street fans were left with many questions after the ITV soap introduced the mysterious Chelsey to the cast. The newcomer is likely to cause havoc for Carla Connor (Alison King), having taken a sneaky photo of her behind the bar at the Rovers Return. Chelsey and Carla then met in the bathroom and it was revealed the pair know each other, and Express.co.uk has discovered how.
Chelsey was first seen in the Corner Shop and she came across as a sly con-woman, taking money from Cathy (Melanie Hill).
She used Cathy’s money at the pub to order a drink and had her eye on Carla from the outset.
Chelsey started asking questions about Carla and started filming the boss on her phone.
When Carla suggested they talk in the bar instead of the bathroom, Chelsey asked if she really wanted her friends to find out how the pair know each other.
Fans have come up with theories about her true identity, with some saying she may be a secret relative.

One fan said on Twitter: “That’s Tony Gordon’s daughter there in the Rovers taking pictures of Carla.”
Tony (Gray O’Brien) was one of Carla’s ex-partners who was imprisoned for the murder of Liam Connor (Rob James-Collier) and was later killed off.
Fans are also keen to find out Chelsey’s surname, as it could help make a connection between the two characters.
Other fans are convinced Chelsey is going to blackmail Carla, as she holds a dark secret over her.
One fan said: “I think Carla became a prostitute when she was going through her breakdown. I have a feeling that Chelsey is also one and is gonna blackmail Carla.”
Viewers have already fallen in love with Chelsey’s character, in particular her Scottish accent.
Another fan said: “I wish Chelsey wasn’t about to blackmail Carla because other than that I really like her.”
Some viewers believe she may be a close relative, with one fan saying: “Has Carla got another sister?”.
Another fan said: “Carla’s daughter #corrie, stop scratching your heads, I’ve got this.”
Coronation Street producer Iain MacLeod has confirmed Carla’s mental health storyline will be revisited, which suggests Chelsey could be responsible for some emotional blackmail.

How does Chelsey really know Carla?
Scottish actress Isobella Hubbard made her debut on the series last week and fans are trying to work out how she knows Carla.
Next week Carla is surprised when she Chelsey says they both stayed in the same squat when she spent last year sleeping rough.
Carla had been on the run following the collapse of the Underworld factory, which killed some employees.
Hearing she was missed on the street, she returned home and stayed with her friend Roy Cropper (David Neilson).
Chelsey attempts to blackmail Carla, saying unless she paid her money she would reveal all to her partner Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne).

Speaking to Digital Spy, MacLeod revealed ahead of Chelsey’s introduction how he wanted to fill in the blanks behind Carla’s time away.
He said: “We don’t know precisely what she got up to when she was away. We saw glimpses of it with the hotel and the squat, but we don’t really know what happened.
“It felt like an interesting opportunity to delve into her recent story and generate something in the present, which will also reveal something we hadn’t known previously about somebody else in the show.”
Fans have also been taking to Reddit to discuss the new character, with one fan saying: “I thought she might know her from Carla’s rehab at first, but clearly Carla doesn’t recognise her.”
Another fan said: “Perhaps when Carla had her breakdown and took off for a while, that could explain her not remembering who she is.”
