EastEnders has released first-look pictures of Brian Conley making his debut as Sonia’s long-lost father Terry Cant.
In his first appearance in Walford, Terry will be seen emerging from the Tube station and bumping into Rainie (Tanya Franks).
But it won’t be long before he’ll be making the acquaintance of Sonia (Natalie Cassidy), who was glimpsed not so long ago trying to track down her errant dad online.
Speaking recently about his casting on the BBC1 soap, Conley – who, prior to the pandemic, was featuring in the West End musical 9 to 5 – told ITV’s This Morning:
I’ve got some scripts and I have been reading them, I’m really chuffed with how it’s panning out and I’m really into watching the show now.
‘I thought “Oh, I better start getting into it”. I’m just happy to be part of such an iconic show and to get me involved in and I’ve been rehearsing in every room now.’
On his joy at performing again following a period in lockdown, he added: ‘I’m ready for it. But I have to say, due to what is going on in this world for the last 12 months for me, it’s a dream come true.’
You can see for yourself how Terry fares in Albert Square when EastEnders broadcasts these scenes on Tuesday 18 May at 7.30pm on BBC1.
