Years & Years frontman Olly Alexander opened tonight’s BAFTAs with his new track Starstruck. Nominees attending the ceremony in person included Michaela Coel, Jodie Comer, Paul Mescal, Graham Norton and Billie Piper with others joining via video call. Richard Ayoade took the reigns as host with the likes of Bill Bailey, Daisy May Cooper, Adrian Dunbar, Maya Jama, Oti Mabuse and Lydia West featuring as guest presenters. However, some viewers decided to switch channels just minutes into the programme because they were “bored”.
Taking to social media, one tweeted: “This year’s #BAFTAS must be the most boring ever & at the same time hysterical cos of the progs which are up for nomination & winning! It’s rubbish & a joke. I’ve turned my TV off already. DVD time.”
Another penned: God the #BAFTAS is so boring it’s going off.”
A third said: “Whoever chooses the winner of these….switched off…”
