THE Great British Bake Off fans were left in hysterics this evening when a bottle of buttermilk exploded in contestant Marc's face.
Even host Noel Fielding couldn't control his laughter, with the catastrophe the second epic blunder of the series so far.
It was bread week for the bakers in the tent, and things did not get off to a good start for the eventual star baker.
The episode's first challenge saw the hopefuls tasked with making soda bread, and Marc was quick to get stuck in as he shook the bottle of milk.
However, the lid erupted off the top – covering the Cornish baker in the liquid.
He was notably gobsmacked by what had happened, and wiped buttermilk off his face and ear while the others in the tent giggled.
Viewers at home were just as tickled, taking to Twitter to share their reaction.
One wrote: "Imagine going on national television and throwing a bottle of milk on your face though."
Another laughed: "How did Marc manage to get that much buttermilk all over everywhere??"
A third tweeted: "What. Omg, we've never had a milk explosion before. Excuse you, it's very funny."
However, Marc certainly had no reason to cry over spilt milk – being crowned this week's star baker by judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.
This was not the first jaw-dropping error to have happened in the tent this year, with the first episode of the new Bake Off series shocking viewers when Sura accidentally knocked over Dave's pineapple upside down cake in the technical.
Fans jokingly accused her of sabotage at the time, with Sura bursting into tears as she shared her guilt.
Thankfully, a cake was salvaged for the judges to taste and Dave did not face any consequences for the accident.
