SWEDEN is hoping for success at the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest with singer Loreen.

The performer will take to the stage in Liverpool for the big event, but she may look familiar to some Eurovision fans.

Who is Loreen? 

Lorine Zineb Nora Talhaoui, known as Loreen, is a Swedish singer who first found fame on Sweden’s version of Pop Idol.

The star, born on October 16, 1983, competed on the show in 2004, finishing in fourth place.

Following her appearance on the reality competition, Loreen worked as a TV presenter as well as pursuing her music career.

She is also known for her political activism, and performed at a fundraising gala in support of Ukraine after the Russian invasion in March 2022.

How many times has Loreen performed in Eurovision? 

The 2023 Eurovision Song Contest marks Loreen's second time competing.

She took part in 2012 when she won the competition in Baku.

Loreen wowed Eurovision viewers with her performance of Euphoria, which went on to become a hit in the UK.

Her 2012 victory also landed Loreen a cameo in Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams' 2020 Netflix film Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.

What is Loreen performing at Eurovision 2023? 

Loreen is performing a song called Tattoo at the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest.

The song was written by Thomas G:son and Peter Boström, who also wrote her past hit Euphoria, amongst other songwriters.

A music video, shot at the legendary Paalsund Studio in Stockholm, has been released to accompany the track.

Ahead of Eurovision, Loreen has been named as the favourite to win by Betfair, with odds of 10/11.

Is Loreen married and does she have children? 

Loreen is not married, though in 2021 she did confirm she has a boyfriend, and doesn't have any children.

In 2017, the singer came out as bisexual in an interview with Swedish television host Renée Nyberg.

During the interview Loreen told the presenter: "Many people are so focused on sex, on sexuality. Love is so much more. I usually say 'Love is where you find it'."

When asked if her comments meant that she is bisexual, Loreen confirmed she is.

How many times has Sweden won Eurovision?

Sweden has won Eurovision an impressive six times.

The only country to win more times is Ireland, with seven victories, while Luxembourg, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom have all won five times.

Sweden's first Eurovision victory was in 1974, when ABBA performed their hit Waterloo.

They last won in 2015, when Måns Zelmerlöw represented the country.
