Adele’s weight loss has been praised by Lorraine Kelly and Dr Hilary Jones who claimed she would have been at high risk during the coronavirus pandemic during today’s Good Morning Britain.
The 32-year-old shared a rare photo on Instagram yesterday to celebrate key workers and unveiled her new look after gradually losing weight over the past year.
Celebrating, she posted a snap of herself in a classic LBD, legs out with the caption: ‘Thank you for the birthday love. I hope you’re all staying safe and sane during this crazy time.
‘I’d like to thank all of our first responders and essential workers who are keeping us safe while risking their lives! You are truly our angels. 2020 okay bye thanks x.’
After Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield heaped praise on the Someone Like You songstress, Lorraine admitted she didn’t even recognise the superstar.
‘She looks completely different!’ Lorraine gasped during today’s GMB.
While there’s no confirmation to how much weight Adele lost, Lorraine added: ‘We think she has lost about seven stone which is brilliant because she’s done it for the right reasons – she wanted to be healthy.’
Lorraine was joined by Dr Hilary who agreed the singer would have been ‘high risk’.
‘Now she’s not,’ Lorraine continued. ‘And apparently she has done it in sensibly. No crazy crash diets it’s just been a change of lifestyle.’
Obese people are almost 40 percent more likely to die from coronavirus and twice as likely to be hospitalised, according to new research.
Earlier in the programme, Dr Hilary explained: ‘We know obesity causes inflammation in the body, inflammation that you can’t see. It’s associated with diabetes, with high blood pressure, with heart disease.’
He stressed it ‘could increase inflammation from coronavirus’ too.
‘Even more reason for people to go and get their exercise everyday, lose a bit of weight, and keep fit generally,’ he went on. ‘Be as strong as you possibly can and take responsibility for your own health – always, for any reason.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
