Referring to her as "number five", her position in the line-up, he bashfully explained he'd learn it in time as he made his way over to her.
Later Shannon said that while Aaron is sweet, he is "really not my type", seemingly stopping any romance dead in its tracks.
Viewers couldn't believe he opted for someone who hadn't expressed an interest in him.
One wrote on Twitter: "How can Aaron just hijack that girl that didn't want him? I still can't believe it #LoveIsland."
A second posted: "Aaron is already a snake."
A third said: "Nah mate we gotta get Aaron tf out of here. I'm still fuming."
Aaron, 24,is cousins with Made in Chelsea star Hugo Taylor.
He told the Daily Star: "Hugo is my cousin. I haven't seen him in a while. We aren't that close.
"But if I ever wanted to ask him for advice, I could. I'm quite close to his dad, too.
"Being related to Hugo and seeing what life is like for him means I can gauge what it is like to be on a TV show."
Hugo, 35, was in the original cast when Made in Chelsea first began in 2011.
Since then he has appeared in I'm a Celebrity Get me Out of Here, Come Dine With Me, Dinner Date and Celebrity Wedding Planner.
He married Made in Chelsea co-star Millie Mackintosh, 31, and the couple have a daughter called Sienna, 13 months, and are revealed on Saturday they are expecting a second baby girl later this year.
Meanwhile, Aaron has had little experience in the television industry as he admitted: "I am friends with a couple of influencers. But I haven't dated anyone in the public eye before. And I haven't done any TV before."
Aaron currently works in modelling and for an events management company.
