What Megan Thee Stallion Thinks Fans Should Expect From Her Debut Album

Rapper Megan Thee Stallion promises her fans that she is hard at work on her debut album.

In 2019, Megan’s EP, Fever, put her on the map in the music industry. The project included her smash hit, “Big Ole Freak,” and “Best You Ever Had.” While she’s released several singles during the COVID-19 pandemic, she still isn’t ready to release her first official album to the masses. When Megan is willing to share her work with her fans, she said it would reflect what is currently happening globally.

Megan Thee Stallion promises that her new album will be ‘crazy.’

Megan has been working on new music despite having a tumultuous year. In July 2020, the 25-year-old rapper was shot in her feet by one of her friends. After keeping quiet about the ordeal, Megan named her former friend Tory Lanez as her shooter. Lanez later released an album, Daystar, and denied shooting Megan. He was later charged for the shooting and could face up to 20 years in prison.

Despite her hectic personal life, Megan shared on Twitter that her album will give her fans what they’ve been demanding. While she didn’t go in-depth about the body of work, she claims her album is “abt to go crazy.” Her tweet received’ multiple likes from fans and suggestions on who Megan should be her next collaborator. The Houston native has already worked with Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, and other affluent artists.

Megan Thee Stallion says her album will discuss the Black Lives Matter movement

Since the recent shootings of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd, which took place in March 2020 and May 2020, respectively, many celebrities have been using their platforms to spread awareness of racial injustices. Megan shared with Variety in August 2020 that she plans to follow suit with her debut album. The rapper has already spoken out in support of Black women, specifically, needing protection, but will shed more light on Black people’s issues through her music.

“I feel like everything that’s going on right now, if it hasn’t moved you to speak out or try to make some difference, then something might be slightly wrong with you,” Megan said. “Even though I haven’t already come out with a song with that messaging, I definitely plan on it.”

Megan Thee Stallion’s album has been pushed back by her label

Megan first caught the attention of many music lovers in 2019. Before her fame, Megan was in college and was pursuing her rap career in her free time. After several years on the road promoting her music, Megan signed a deal with Carl Crawford. The baseball player owns 1501 Certified Entertainment and offered Megan a contract in 2018.

Things were seemingly peaceful between the rapper and her label until March 2020. She claimed 1501 wasn’t paying her as much money as she was bringing into the company. Megan said that she received $15,000 from the label on Instagram Live after earning more than one billion streams from her music. Megan also said she was “attacked and threatened on social media” by Crawford after inking a management deal with Roc Nation. According to Billboard, Crawford has denied any wrongdoing against Megan.

“It’s a whole lie,” Crawford said. “Nothing is true that she said. Me being greedy and taking money from her, that’s crazy. I never tried to take anything from her. The only thing we ever did was give, give, give.”
