Standing in front of her open fridge, her 276,000 followers were able to get a good look at what she stores in there, including many of her sauces.

One eagle-eyed fan of Fran, who recently showed off her weight loss, couldn't help but notice the tomato sauce in the door shelf and felt the need to comment on it after finding the choice odd.

Should you keep ketchup in the fridge?

If you look on a bottle of Heinz ketchup you’ll see that it’s recommended to refrigerate it once open, and eat within eight weeks.

However, registered dietitian Dr Sarah Schenker told Delish there’s no need to keep it in the fridge.

She explained: “There’s no need to keep ketchup in the fridge. Not only does it contain vinegar, but tomatoes are naturally acidic, and this helps to preserve the product in ambient (room temperature) conditions.”

For those of you who do like it in the fridge though fear not, as Dr Sarah Schenker added: “Sometimes people keep ketchup in the fridge, simply because they prefer a chilled taste, but otherwise it doesn’t need to be refrigerated.”

Just to confuse you even more though Heinz, the unofficial authority on ketchup, have weighed in on the debate.
