Neymar criticises former Barcelona team-mate Xavi for team selection and tells him to play Man Utd flop Memphis Depay

NEYMAR has criticised his former team-mate Xavi for his Barcelona team selection and told him to play Memphis Depay.

Manchester United flop Depay joined Barca for FREE in the summer after a successful stint with Lyon.

And he has started the season well with the Catalan giants, scoring nine in 24 games.

But as Depay returns to first-team action from injury, Neymar has offered his former team-mate and now Barca boss Xavi some advice.

Neymar, who joined Depay on an Instagram live to celebrate the Dutchman joining the Puma stable, said: "This is a message for Xavi…. Xavi, put Memphis in, because he scores!"

However, Depay might face a fight to get his starting spot back, with January transfer arrival Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hitting the ground running.

The former Arsenal captain has scored five goals in six games for Barca, including a hat-trick against Valencia.

Depay could look to prove himself in the Europa League.

Barca will play Galatasaray in the Round of 16 and they're one of the favourites to win the competition.

However, the likes of six-time Europa League winners Sevilla are still in the competition.

West Ham, Atalanta, Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig also all remain in the hunt for European glory.
