Loading up the dishwasher can be a pretty tedious task as it is, let alone going to empty it and realising all of your bowls are overflowing with water.
And if you’re one of those people continuously faced with bowls spilling out water when you go to empty the dishwasher then today might well be your lucky day, because one mum has come up with a nifty solution.
The hack was shared by a mum who was tired of water splashing out when opening up the dishwasher, so she took to Facebook and Reddit to share the trick, and people said it “works a treat.”

So what do you do? Well, according to the mum in question you’ll need to get a cheap wire drying rack which you’ll place over the bits and pieces which usually fill up with water.
When the dishwasher turns on, the additional drying rack should, if all goes to plan, keep everything in place.
Impressed by the cheap trick, one person wrote: “This is brilliant, thanks for sharing,” while another added: “Yep, this works a treat! I use cake racks." [sic]

There was also another suggestion thrown in the mix, in which someone advised using oven racks to hold everything down.

On the topic of kitchen hacks, one TikTok user has also revealed the correct way to fill an ice cube tray.

The person in question shared a 10 second clip detailing how she’s always poured water into an ice cube tray and it’s completely opened our eyes.
The video has been a huge hit, reaching 4.3 million since it was shared. Taking the tray, the user places it beneath the water coming from the tap and it pours onto the flat spots in the middle of the grooves where the ice cube is formed.
As a result, the water simply trickles into the four sections without overflowing, splashing or going everywhere, which, let’s face it, usually happens when it comes to this task.

In the video, the TikTok user can be heard saying: “Am I just dumb? Or did nobody else know this either? These little flat spots on ice cube trays are where you're supposed to fill the water.”
And the woman wasn’t the only one who’d never figured out the handy hack, with thousands taking to the comments section to share their surprise.
“Not in all my 40 years did I know this,” one person wrote, whilst another jokingly penned: “I was today years old when I learned this.”
