Lidl introduce their brand new Plus mobile app

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, supermarkets including Lidl have had to reduce the amount of customers in store at any one time. This means during peak times, queues outside of the supermarket are highly likely as the discounter continues to monitor the number of shoppers. In a bid to combat this, Lidl Plus app users can now make use of the new feature.
To help ease shopper numbers throughout the day, Lidl has introduced a new ‘best time to shop’ banner on its loyalty app.
The app, which was only launched last year, continues to be updated on a regular basis.
Upon opening the loyalty app, users will now be introduced to the new banner which shows how busy their local shop is throughout the day.
Clicking on the banner shows customers with a bar chart, indicating how busy the supermarket is each trading hour of that particular day.
Customers can also see a similar looking chart for any other day for the coming week, with some days tending to be busier for shopping than others.
The quietest times to shop are shown in green while peak times are blue.
According to the discounter, the graphs are updated in real time to give as much accuracy to shoppers as possible.
The new feature could see quieter stores as customers can plan their visit ahead.

The Lidl Plus app, which can be downloaded on mobile devices, gives customers exclusive discounts each week on different groceries.
To download it, shoppers need to fill out details such as their email address and phone number to register.
The discounter recently revealed that the app has now rolled out to more locations across the UK as it continues to improve the app.
Head of Sales Operations Lidl Northern Ireland Gordon Cruikshanks said: “We’re delighted to roll out the Lidl Plus app across Northern Ireland.
“As the region’s fastest-growing supermarket, we welcome more than 350,000 customers through our doors each week who visit us for great quality, low price produce.
“Value is an incredible important factor for customers which our own research confirms, with half of all customers heavily guided by low prices, particularly given the financial pressures placed on families over the last 12 months.
“We’re thrilled to now offer our customers even more value and bring additional savings and incredible discounts across our wide range of quality products with Lidl Plus.
“The app is so easy to use and customers can register their profile in just 90 seconds to instantly access rewards and begin saving at the checkout.”
New features continue to be added to the app regularly to help shoppers make the most from their weekly shop.
The discounter recently introduced a feature called Plus prizes which allows customers to spin a wheel in the hope of landing on discounts.
The top discount is a huge £20 off for customers to claim on their next shop.
As well as updating its app regularly, Lidl has also kept shoppers up to date with its changing safety measures it has been implementing.
This includes reducing store numbers as well as asking people to socially distance while shopping.
Supermarkets have updated their measures in line with Government guidance throughout the pandemic.
