Is Wilko open today? Coronavirus opening hours and advice

WILKO has been named as an essential retailer which means its stores will stay open during the coronavirus epidemic.

Shops are allowed to remain open to customers because they sell important household goods including toilet roll, cleaning products and medicines.

Wilko told The Sun that all 416 of its stores are currently open, although some are operating under reduced hours.

This is so workers have extra time to clean and replenish stock.

The latest government advice states you should only visit a shop if you're picking up essentials, such as food and medicines.

You should also think twice about buying anything that isn't critical if you're struggling financially due to coronavirus.

What time are Wilko shops open?

Wilko opening times vary across the UK so you'll need to use the online store finder to see when your nearest shop is open.

Some stores are shutting earlier, but again this depends on your location.

Before the coronavirus epidemic, some shops would close as late as 8pm.

But now, a few stores are closing at 5pm to allow extra time for cleaning and replenishing.

All Wilko stores have also temporarily removed their pick and mix sweet stands.

The retailer hasn't said when they expect to bring them back into shops.

Jerome Saint-Marc, CEO of Wilko, said: “For everyone’s peace of mind we’re doing everything possible to protect both our team members and customers when you shop with us.

“We’re here to help but kindly ask that you’re kind to everyone, maintain a safe distance, follow any instructions and pay by card as much as possible.”

Wilko is still accepting cash payments but asks customers to use cards, preferably contactless, when possible.

Can I still order from Wilko online?

Yes, Wilko's website is still up and running, but shoppers may experience delays to their home delivery orders.

It's also reduced its delivery options and is now only offering standard delivery.

That means customers won't be able to use its next-day delivery service.

Wilko charges £5 for standard delivery if you spend under £30.

Orders over this amount are free.

Wilko has temporarily suspended its click and collect service.
