Cheltenham Festival fans hail punter's 'dream' bet that returns almost £12,000 off just £30

CHELTENHAM Festival fans have been left purring over one punter's 'dream' bet.

The shrewd bettor stands to win £11,700 from just £30 after backing three huge favourites.

Greg Barrett posted a photo of his slip to a popular Cheltenham Festival Facebook group.

He said he placed the bet – which showed Shishkin, Envoi Allen and Monkfish all to win – last year.

Nicky Henderson's superstar Shishkin was backed at 5-1 for the Arkle Chase on Tuesday.

However, his odds have now plummeted to 1-2 after big rival Energumene was forced out through injury.

Barrett also got the Willie Mullins-trained Monkfish at odds of 12-1 to win the Brown Advisory Novices' Chase on Wednesday.

That horse is also now just 1-2 to win, meaning you have to stake £2 for every £1 you stand to win.

The final piece of the seemingly perfect treble is Envoi Allen.

The unbeaten trailblazer was moved from Gordon Elliott's yard to Henry De Bromhead's after the trainer's dead horse photo scandal.

But bookies and punters think he is almost certain to land the Marsh Novices' Chase on Thursday.

Barrett backed Envoi Allen at 4-1 but the horse is now just 4-6 to win with Paddy Power.

Bookies will pay out at the odds the horses were backed at.

If you placed the bet now, a £30 stake would return £112.50.

But Barrett stands to net just under £12,000 – should all the horses win.

Fellow punters praised his forward thinking in backing the horses so far in advance.

One said: "The kind of antepost wager we all dream of having the weekend before the Festival.

"Probably only 20 odd fences can beat you because I doubt any of the runners will. Good luck to you."

Another said: "Great bet. I think all of them will win at a canter. Excellent prices. Well done."

While one person posted: "That's one of the best bets I've seen. Good luck."

This is not the only punter who stands to win big from horses backed a long time ago.

SunSport told you how one bettor can win £5,000 before his horses even run.
