A UFO investigator firmly believes an incident dubbed 'Britain's Roswell' represents credible proof of extra-terrestrial life after speaking to those who witnessed the phenomena.
This Boxing Day marks 40 years since the scenes, described as being like "something from Star Trek", played out in Rendlesham Forest, next to US Air Force base in Suffolk.
Philip Mantle, former Director of Investigations for the British UFO Research Association, has interviewed several witnesses, including US servicemen.
And he is convinced that what they saw on December 26, 1980, should be considered as a strong case for proof of aliens travelling to Earth.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, Flying Disk Press publisher Philip said what makes it so credible is the fact it was at an important nuclear base and seen by US Air Force personnel.

Philip said: "On Christmas night, they've all had their dinner they're all full. Lights were seen in the forest, so they sent a security detail of three officers to investigate claims people had seen a UFO land in the forest.
"Subsequent night, it returned, and this time the deputy base Commander Lieutenant Colonel Charles Holt gathered a small team.
"He too went into the forest and also took his little dictaphone and they too encountered a whole host of phenomena, most of which he captured in segments on his dictaphone.
"Colonel Holt wrote a memo which he sent to the MOD and to his superiors in the Air Force back in the States, and that memo surfaced three years later under the Freedom of Information Act in America – we didn't have one at the time.
"One or two people had come forward but once the memo was out, the story broke.
"Since that story, of course, a lot of people who were there have gone on the record with what they saw, as well as the civilians around the base that night who also saw things.

"Because of what the base was – a nuclear facility – a10 tank busters were there. It was on the frontline against the Soviet Union – in December, 1980, the Soviet military.
"It wasn't some backwater posting in a little village in Suffolk – it was a sensitive base."
Retired USAF Security Police officer Steve Longero told Philip he remembered "reddish fluorescent" lights before they disappeared "like something from Star Trek".
Steve said: "They looked like fluorescent coloured lights, like red and green, glowing lights, just hovering over the treetops, and it was just like an eye that was almost following everybody."
The extraordinary event lasted between 10 and 15 minutes, he recalled.

Steve continued: "It was real kind of quiet and, you know, this thing hovering over the trees, you were like kind of tracking it. and like, ‘What is this?’ It was following, like, watching us. That’s what it looked like to us. It seemed like something watching us.
"From what I remember it was aglow. It was really glowing like a reddish, greenish light. It looked like something that was really hot and it was just glowing.
"I remember we had little briefing and everybody was just like…we just could not believe what we were seeing. Your adrenalin was flowing, and I remember people saying, ‘What is that?’

"And then, as people were getting close to this thing, it kind of came nearer to us and then it would go forward and then go back and all of a sudden it just disappeared, like something out of Star Trek.
"It was warp speed and we were all, ‘What was that?’ Then it was gone and that’s when they started doing their investigations.
"After we secured the area they said okay, you’re gone, get out of here."
Steve told how he and fellow colleagues could not stop talking about what had just happened until a superior ordered them to quit.
He added: "I think it was something not from this world. Just because the way it hovered and just the way it disappeared. That’s what I think – that’s what I’ve always thought."
