Strictly Come Dancing’sAJ Odudu was pictured on crutches before announcing she has been forced to withdraw from the hit BBC dancing show’s final.
AJ was photographed out in London today, Friday 17 September, in exclusive pictures, before she announced the devastating news.
The 33 year old was asked about her injury and how she was doing at the time, and she replied that things are "bad".
AJ sustained a "repeated traumatic impact injury" to her right ankle, which has impacted the "joint, capsule and ligaments themselves".
As a result of her injury, AJ has now announced that she has had to pull out Strictly – telling fans that she was "deeply upset" that she won't be able to compete.
AJ shared the news, writing: "I'm deeply upset that I am unable to perform in the final due to a torn ligament in my right ankle. Learning to dance over the last 13 weeks has been an incredible honour and to do it alongside someone as special, patient and devoted as Kai is something I'll treasure forever.
"Thank you to the Strictly family for the experience, the medical team for trying to get me back on my feet and mostly, to everyone at home for watching and supporting.
"You've made this experience one to remember. Strictly Come Dancing has been a lifelong dream and I'm glad it came true. Good luck to my partners in dance, John & Johannes and Rose and Giovanni. I will be cheering you on (on one leg!)".
AJ announced earlier this week that she’d suffered an injury, and“projectile vomited” with pain as a result.
The presenter told It Takes Two host Janette Manrara: “I'm upset because I've suffered an injury, I don't know when it happened. But essentially, I've got issues with my joint, I've suffered some traumatic injury to my ligaments, there's a lot of inflammation.
"I can't pinpoint when it happened during training, in fact, we felt really positive after training on Monday. I felt fine but the pain came on so suddenly and acutely that I actually projectile vomited."
AJ proceeded to say that she was unable to put weight on her right foot and, a few days later, she’s still unable to do so.
Following her injury and before announcing that she won't be able to compete in the final, AJ revealed to OK! thatshe’s missed a lot of training.
“There’s a bit of ligament damage. Long story short, I’ve hurt the ligament in my arch, and I can’t put any weight on my foot at all,” she told us.
“So we have missed a lot of training because I can’t stand up.”
AJ added at the time: “I’m on crutches and I’m doing everything I can to try and be there on Saturday night.”
While AJ is understandably heartbroken about her injury, she gushed over her dance partner Kai Widdringtonwho has been supporting her.
She said: "I feel really emotional. There’s been so many highlights throughout the series. Obviously our first dance – coming out with that jive, the American smooth, the Argentine tango – but genuinely just making it to the final."
The Strictly star added: "I know we’re not there yet, but everyone has voted us here and [to Kai] you have just been so patient and so kind and so brilliant.
"Even now when I’m hobbling about the place he’s still being really positive and saying, 'We’re gonna get you on that dance floor.'"
AJ’s injury comes aftershe and Kai finally scored a perfect 40at last weekend’s semi-final.
The dancing duo have been Strictly favourites for some time, with many arguing that their high score was long overdue.
Shirley Ballas described the dance as “spectacular", as Craig Revel Harwood said it was “sensational.”
