BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker, 44, had a bit of a shock as he took to the green for a relaxing game of golf, only to bump into his former Good Morning Britain rival, Piers Morgan, 56. The broadcaster admitted that he “couldn’t believe” that he was teeing off behind the ITV personality before taking a cheeky snap with the star, following a recent war of words over Twitter just days ago.

Taking to Instagram, the BBC star was left speechless as he revealed who was in front of him on the Surrey-based golf course to his 182,000 fans.

He wrote: “Can’t believe it… turn up at Wentworth and guess who is in the group in front????

“Yep… @piersmorgan,” he added alongside two laughing emojis.

“And… crucially… he delivered the goods #Shanksville,” Dan ended the post.

Dan posted a picture of himself alongside the ITV star who was giving the camera a thumbs up as he clutched his golf club in his left hand.

The former newspaper editor stood out in a bright pair of blue shorts paired with a striped, short-sleeved shirt, while Dan opted for a dark ensemble.

The BBC host also posted a short clip of the Life Stories presenter teeing off, narrating: “On the tee of the west course Mr P Morgan, come on son, don’t let me down,” before a frustrated Piers yelled “damn it” while jokingly hitting his club against the green.

It wasn’t long before Piers reposted the image to his own social media account, teasing fans that he and Dan were coming together for their own news programme.

He wrote: “Planning our new show… ‘Good Morning BBC Breakfast Britain’ #DreamTeam #Wentworth.”

Seemingly in good spirits, the surprise meeting comes days after the duo shared a heated exchange on Twitter after Dan’s co-star Louise Minchin announced that she was stepping down from her BBC Breakfast presenting role.

Dan took to Twitter to pen an emotional message to his co-host of five years, which saw him refer to Louise’s departure as a “break-up”.

He added: “What am I going to do without Louise?

“Thank you for all the lovely messages after an emotional morning on #BBCBreakfast – I’m sure Louise will get to read them all later.”

Dan ended the tweet: “My life will be poorer without her on the sofa. She’s the best.”

Following the heartfelt post, Piers took the opportunity to tell his rival to pull himself together and told him to make room for him on the famous red sofa.

“Stop blubbing Dan – I start Monday,” he retorted.

Piers continued: “BBC wanted the guy who beat you in the ratings, and the first same-sex male breakfast presenting team to appease the wokies.”

But the proposition was a definite no from Dan, who responded with a savage reply.

“No thanks… wouldn’t want you storming off if Carol [Kirkwood – BBC weather presenter] asked you something awkward. #TearsForPiers,” he laughed back, referring to when he walked out during a heated discussion with his colleague Alex Beresford.

The duo have had a long-running feud over the years with Piers repeatedly taking shots at Dan on social media, mainly commenting on ratings.
