Richard Madeley planned to “abandon” a show trial on tonight’s offering of I’m A Celebrity… Get me Out Of Here! The Good Morning Britain presenter took on his first public-voted trial – but it didn’t go as he had planned.

The 65-year-old took part in a show trial called Castle Kitchen Nightmares – which involved him having to desperately search for hidden stars in a kitchen full of castle critters.

The show contestant was tasked with finding 10 hidden stars.

Appearing upbeat ahead of the trial, when he joined hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly, as he told them: “Hello, good to see you both, good to be here … well,” before laughing as he decided it probably wasn’t a good idea.

But it wasn’t long before Richard threatened to abandon the I’m A Celebrity task before dropping a cheeky innuendo that caught the attention of viewers.

As Richard struggled through the task, he said: “I’m going to have to abandon this.”

When attempting to undo the knots, he moaned: “My hands are wet.”

“This side is really tight. I mean, I know how to untie knots but this one is not budging.”

“It’s as tight as a [inaudible].”

Ant quizzed: “What did he say?”

Dec commented: “I think penis drum? What’s that?”

Richard went on: “I just can’t do it. It’s wet and it’s tight.”

The Geordie duo could not hold back as they burst out laughing after Richard’s cheeky innuendo.

“This one’s not as tight,” the contestant continued.

“Well, that’s good,” Ant jibed. “It’s not wet and it’s not tight.”

The innuendo was caught by viewers, as a Twitter user, Anna penned: “‘It’s tight. And it’s wet’ Richard Madeley – 2021 #ImACeleb.”

Ed Acteson commented: “Richard Madeley is absolute box office.”

Holly wrote: “Richard Madeley is that family member at Christmas who has the whole family sat listening to his very detailed story on how he washed his car the other morning… too much unnecessary detail #ImACeleb.”

During the trial, Richard continued to struggle with untying the knots on the string that held the stars in place and at the end of the trial, he only ended up with four out of the 10 stars available to him.

“Holy moly,” Richard said as offal and fish guts continued to fall on him.

Following his effort, he headed back to tell his campmates what had happened, as he returned with just four stars.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! airs weeknights on ITV at 9pm.
