One of the many consequences of everyone being stuck at home during quarantine is that birthday parties and celebrations have been majorly downgraded. And that’s especially true for Queen Elizabeth, who usually has a whole parade to celebrate her birthday (it’s just one of the many perks of being the Queen of England!).
The Queen previously canceled Trooping the Colour (aka her big bday parade), but with her birthday coming up on Tuesday, it’s being reported that she also canceled the gun salute that usually marks her birthday. A royal source tells People that the Queen didn’t feel it was “appropriate” at the moment, which certainly tracks! The outlet shares:
Considering that we’re all isolating in order to keep our communities safe during this pandemic, it makes sense that the Queen wouldn’t want anyone to leave their home for any non-essential reasons. The Queen is taking self-isolation very seriously, and even said in her coronavirus address to the U.K., “Today, once again, many will feel a painful sense of separation from their loved ones, but now as then, we know deep down that it is the right thing to do.”
