During the latest episode of Our Yorkshire Farm, Amanda Owen’s husband Clive Owen and their son Miles expressed concerns about bird flu.The latter could be seen relocating their livestock to a safer area inside as he told viewers he was “worried” about their health.
Miles, 14, explained: “We’re putting all the hens in because of bird flu. We’re just getting the stable ready today.
“They’re free-range chickens and they’d much rather be outside but for the time they’re in here, I think they’ll enjoy it.”
He added: “I’m a little bit worried if a chicken does get bird flu which I hope it doesn’t, it probably will die which is not good.”
Clive also expressed his concerns, adding: “It’s not ideal in the lead up to Christmas but that’s the law of the land so we will have to comply.
“Everybody will. Whether you’ve got two chickens or 20,000 chickens, they’ve got to go inside.”
A concerned viewer took to Twitter to ask Amanda about the infectious disease.
They wrote: “Hi quick question but I seen that you have a big flu case on your farm. Is everything ok.”(sic)
She replied: “Honestly it is absolute rubbish.
“Never had or got flu and it was bird flu that the media referred to.
“All that happened was that we had to keep the chickens inside for a while.”
Fortunately for the Owens, they managed to prevent a spread of the disease on their farm.
Earlier this month, Amanda shared her worries about daughter Clemmy’s outlook on her pony named Tony.

The Shepherdess said: “Clem loves Tony, she’s got all sorts of ideas on what she wants to do with him and all the rest of it.
“The only thing that slightly worries me about that relationship is she thinks that Tony is going to grow big as she grows bigger.”
The mother-of-nine added she didn’t see the need to tell her daughter that his size will remain the same.
“She thinks he’s going to be a big horse. I don’t see any reason to change that thought.
“In a kind of a way, he has expanded but only sideways rather than upwards,” she added.
Amanda shares children; Annas, Violet, Edith, Raven, Clemmy, Nancy, Reuben, Miles and Sidney with husband Clive.
They have been giving fans an insight into their life on the farm since 2018.
Our Yorkshire Farm continues on Tuesday at 9pm on Channel 5.
