Gardeners’ World presenter Monty Don, 65, left his dedicated fans worrying about him sustaining an injury this afternoon, as he carried out a tricky job in his garden. The horticulturalist revealed he was on a mission to move some “enormously heavy stone troughs” at Longmeadow today.
Although the star reassured his 858,000 Instagram followers that he had some help in relocating the troughs to his herb garden, fans feared the impact the risky activity could have on his back.
Monty shared a video of the stone troughs that he had moved in a sun-soaked clip.
He wrote alongside it: “We ( mostly not me!)moved the enormously heavy stone troughs today from the mound to the Herb garden.
“Will replant them next week.”
Fans rushed to the comments section of Monty’s post to share their messages of concern, urging him to be careful when lifting the troughs.
One person warned: “Tried moving some large planters and my back is now suffering the consequences.”
Another added: “I hope your back’s okay Monty!”
A third fan commented: “There’s a few KG there, Monty!”
“Too heavy,” a fourth replied.
However, another fan shared their relief that Monty at least had some assistance and wasn’t attempting it by himself.
They wrote: “Glad we don’t have to shout ‘For God’s sake, be careful!’”
Another Instagram user said: “I’ve got one that needs moving too. Can u send yr helpers please. Got the plants waiting to go in. It weighs a ton.”(sic)

It comes after Monty recently announced he would be taking a break from the hit gardening show, which airs on BBC Two.
The presenter explained he would be focusing on a project he was forced to postpone during the coronavirus pandemic.
He said: “Having been delayed by a year due to Covid I am off today (and for the next four days) to a studio to read ‘My Garden World’ as an audio book.”
Gardeners’ World is filmed a week in advance, meaning that he will be missing in this evening’s episode.
In his absence, Monty has been keeping fans up to date with his new project on Twitter.
He recently said: “My Garden World audio book now all read and recorded and will be available on July 1st.”
Fans shared their joy over the forthcoming release, with one saying: “I pre-ordered and can’t wait, you are always a joy to listen to.”
Another said: “Your voice is so easy to listen to, I bet it will be great!”
