Kate Garraway is reportedly ‘sick with worry’ about her husband Derek Draper, who is in intensive care battling coronavirus.
The Good Morning Britain host will be stepping away from the show as she self-isolates.
A spokesperson for Kate told Metro.co.uk in a statement: ‘Kate’s husband, Derek Draper, has been taken to hospital and is being treated in intensive care with a confirmed case of COVID-19.
‘He was admitted on Monday and has since tested positive for the virus. Kate, hasn’t been tested, however she has also been displaying mild symptoms, also since Monday, and as a result has been on strict isolation with her children at home.’
A source told The Sun: ‘He is in intensive care battling coronavirus and for obvious reasons she is beside herself.
‘Kate has symptoms herself too but they are mild so she is self-isolating at home with the kids.
‘She is obviously off TV too. Everyone at GMB is so worried for her.’
Fellow GMB presenter Piers Morgan has shared support for Kate on Twitter, writing: ‘Now it’s been made public, I can say this horrendous situation has brought the Coronavirus crisis sharply into the hearts of all of us @GMB. My love & prayers to Kate & Derek.’
Susanna Reid added: ‘All my love to Kate and Derek.’
Ranvir Singh has been stepping in for Kate on the show, presenting alongside Ben Shephard.
Kate, 52, and former Labour adviser Derek, 52, have been married since 2005.
The presenter appeared on last year’s series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here, coming in fourth place.
When she left the jungle, Derek surprised her by proposing again, with the pair of them planning to renew their vows this year with an ‘interesting’ second wedding.
‘We’re going to have a second wedding and [her daughter] Darcey’s going to plan the whole thing. She’s 13, so it could be very interesting, but we’ll see,’ she revealed to Prima Magazine last month.
‘I think she will probably want me to look like Kendall Jenner on the day which is going to be tough… I would love to look like Kendall Jenner as well, so good luck with that!’
Susanna Reid, who also presents on Good Morning Britain alongside Piers Morgan, is back on the show after self-isolating due to her son suffering from a cough.
She had previously been appearing on the show via live stream from her home.
