Kate Garraway reveals Prince Charles was the Royal who sent support amid Dereks Covid battle

Kate Garraway has revealed that Prince Charles got in touch during her husband Derek Draper’s hospital stay and intense battle with Covid-19 last year.

The Good Morning Britain presenter previously revealed that a member of the royal family had reached out to her, but kept the person's identity a secret.

Now the mum-of-two, 54, has finally opened up and shared that it was the Prince of Wales who offered the use of specialist royal doctors to treat Derek, who was in intensive care for nearly a year after he contracted the coronavirus in March 2020.

TV journalist Kate offered her thanks to the future king for his support during a very trying time as she fought for the best care for her husband, who is still struggling.

Kate has previously spoken of the moment a royal contacted her as being "utterly surreal".

The presenter detailed that they had offered the services of a royal physician in a letter, calling it "lovely" in her new book Kate Garraway: The Power Of Hope.

Kate has now been heard confirming Prince Charles was behind the gesture, thanking him at Prince’s Trust Awards ceremony, according to reports from The Mirror.

The TV personality, who has met the royal on many previous occasions, told him: "And you, you might not remember but you were very kind to me because my husband got very sick with Covid after the last Prince’s Trust awards.

“You wrote to me and gave me help from your doctors, so thank you very much… and he did improve."

"Is he better?" Charles asked, but Kate shook her head and said: "Not really."

"He’s got all the damage and all sorts, can’t speak, can’t walk," the mum-of-two continued, as the prince was deeply concerned.

"Oh no! From the pandemic?" Charles asked, and Kate confirmed: "Yes, he went down with it just after we were last here (in 2020).

"We had the gathering and you did the Namaste, and it was just after that that he got sick and was in a coma for sort of 11 months.

"That’s incredible how it affects," Charles added.

It comes as TV presenter Kate recently revealed she's "scared to cry about her Derek" as she gave another update about their lives and his condition.
