Jesy Nelson has panic attack before breaking down in tears on stage

Little Mix star Jesy Nelson has opened up about suffering a panic attack right before the group’s performance that saw her break down in tears.

The girl group’s stunning set at BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge on Tuesday was halted after Jesy’s ‘nerves got the better’ of her, with her bandmates Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Perrie Edwards rushing to comfort her.

The cameras were turned off, before Jesy, who has been open about her mental health in the past, went back on stage to complete the set.

Sharing a video of herself smashing the performance in rehearsals, the 29-year-old wrote following the set: ‘So my nerves got the better of me today and I had panic attack right before we were about to sing this for live lounge today and like a pro @perrieedwards jumped in for my part last minute and smashed it 😇 this is what we originally did in rehearsals ❤️’.

Fans have been quick to share messages of love and support.

‘Proud of jesy for quickly pulling herself together and proceeding to sing her heart out, it isnt easy to just snap out of it on the spot when anxiety takes over. i hope she knows she has our endless love and support,’ one wrote.

One more said: ‘The girls went straight over to comfort jesy, that’s what best friends are for! jesy girl you got this we love you.’

Another added: ‘We love you Jesy ❤’.

The girls have been absolutely smashing it despite having to cancel their tour, recently releasing their hit Holiday, complete with an incredible music video that saw them get their glam on and dress up as mermaids. As you do.

However, even they have struggled during lockdown, after being so used to their busy schedules.

Jade explained to Metro.co.uk: ‘It was really bizarre to just sort of have to press pause and not do anything, because we are so used to just being on the go 24/7.

‘We see each other all the time and we’ve got used to that cycle of work, so for it all to stop it was a bit like “oh, how do I live a normal life?” I’m not used to being in my own apartment for this amount of time!

‘Everyone tries to find the positives out of all of this, whether it’s spending time with your family and friends or being more creative, doing things you wouldn’t usually have time to do in day to day life.’

Reps for Little Mix declined to comment further.
