This Morning presenters Holly Willoughby, 40, and Phillip Schofield, 58, were given food from dog bowls on today’s edition of the show as part of a food awareness segment. Ahead of going live with the item, Phillip took to Instagram to tell his 3.1 million followers his co-star wasn’t happy about it.

He began: “Yesterday I was drinking milk milked from a horse and today we’re eating…” he paused as he saw Holly’s reaction to the dog bowls.

Laughing, he added: “Look at her unhappy face.”

Holly stayed silent as she jokingly faked a smile while sat at the table where the dog bowls were placed.

“We’re eating out of dog bowls,” Phillip added. “So, food that your dog can eat and you can eat.”

“She’s not happy!” he repeated, panning the camera onto his co-star again.

Holly went on to say she thiinks she’d find the item more manageable if she was blindfolded.

Live on air, the mother-of-three introduced the segment saying: “Best of luck for me for this next item.”

She went on to inform viewers supermarkets had warned there is a shortage of some dog food products, due to a rise in pet ownership during lockdown.

Phillip could be seen looking over at his co-star with his hand over his mouth.

He then asked: “Have you got that watery feeling in your mouth before you puke?”

Concerned about her reaction, Phillip went to find his co-star a spare mask to wear over her eyes for the item.

“It’s fine, let’s not think about it,” she pleaded.

“You need something to cover your eyes if you reckon you can eat it without looking at it,” he persisted.

Holly went on to reassure Phillip she’d be fine, but the latter was not convinced.

He replied: “I’m not sitting here while you’re sick all over the table.”

“I don’t get why it has to be in a dog bowl, it makes me feel funny,” she went on to admit.

Holly went on to find out more facts about good nutritious food for dogs, as Phillip tried out some of the food.

At one point, he used a straw to taste a dog-friendly kale, spinach, banana and coconut water smoothie.

Reassuring her it was OK, Holly had a small taste and seemed to be fine.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
