EastEnders star Toby-Alexander Smith to become full-time dad after Gray Atkins soap exit

EastEnders star Toby-Alexander Smith is set to become a full-time dad after he departed the BBC soap as the villainous serial killer Gray Atkins.

As viewers watched on in shock as the evil character was finally arrested and taken away by police, the actor has also revealed his reasons for choosing to bow out of the soap after three years.

Toby, 31, welcomed a beautiful baby girl named Bonnie with his Emmerdale girlfriend Amy Walsh, 34, just after Christmas.

The couple have been overjoyed to grow their family, and the EastEnders favourite has decided to press pause on his career so he can enjoy the precious time with Amy and their new bundle of joy.

Speaking to The Sun about what's next now he's left the BBC soap, Toby revealed: “Changing nappies, breast pumps and not getting any sleep probably.

“It’s all good," he laughed. "I’m very happy using this time now just to be present with Amy and Bonnie and I’m just loving every second of it."

“Who knows what’s around the corner but for right now I’m very happy to just be a full-time dad," the star added.

After Thursday night's dramatic scenes, Toby paid tribute to his time in Walford with a selfie from Albert Square.

"Goodnight Walford…you’ve been wild!" he declared bittersweetly.

Following his bombshell final scenes, which finally saw evil character get his comeuppance with law enforcement, colleagues and fans flocked to the comments to share their praise for the star's incredible yet utterly horrifying portrayal.

Co-star Lorraine Stanley exclaimed: "You was outstanding tonight mate!! What an epic episode!!! I’m going to miss you so much, love you lots xxxxx."
