TV presenter Cat Deeley has admitted to moving home from Los Angeles after gun violence in the US.

The 43 year old star upped sticks and headed across the pond to LA in 2006 and called a stunning mason with sweeping views home, alongside husband of eight years, comedian and fellow TV presenter Patrick Kielty, and their two sons Milo, four and James, two.

However, since moving back to the UK Cat has admitted part of the reason was due to fears over gun violence.

The star’s eldest son Milo was caught up in a horrifying mall shooting but luckily survived the ordeal.

Speaking to You magazine about the events, Cat told of how her husband Patrick and son Milo were at the Century City Mall in Los Angeles at the time of the terrifying shooting.

Cat explained: “They shut down the centre. I got a call from Paddy, saying, 'They’re taking us out through the fire exits but nobody can get to their car. If we walk to a junction, can you come and get us?'

"He wanted to keep Milo calm, so I didn’t understand the enormity of what was happening.

"As I was driving I began to see helicopters, news vans, firemen and SWAT [armed police response] squads.

"It makes me go funny now. It was terrifying… Paddy was shaken by it, more than Milo, who was hot and cranky but didn’t properly understand."

As well as the fear surrounding the shootings, Cat also made the decision to move home after finding it hard when looking at where Milo would go to school.

She said: “There was a moment when I was with a friend looking at potential schools for Milo and we had to ask the question nobody wants to 'What do you do if there is a live shooter on the premises?'

“They tell you exactly what would happen, whether the kids would go to a safe room or hide under the desks…

"The danger suddenly becomes a reality."

The garden also featured a beautiful swimming pool with burnt orange sun beds surrounding the turquoise water.

Cat, who recently opened up on a hilarious prank she played on Ant and Dec, believes she chose the right time to move, meaning her son Milo can start school in the UK and the boys can see their grandparents more.
