Cardi B has become the first woman rapper to earn a diamond single after “Bodak Yellow” sold 10 million copies.
“Bodak Yellow” has been certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America.
“Congratulations to @iamcardib, the first female rapper to achieve a RIAA single award! #BodakYellow @AtlanticRecords,” the organization tweeted.
Meanwhile, Cardi’s collab with Megan Thee Stallion “WAP” is halfway to diamond certification. It achieved 5x multi-platinum status as of March 3, according to the RIAA website.
“Bodak Yellow”‘s diamond-certification comes less than a month after Lauryn Hill became the first woman rapper to earn a diamond-certified album.
The RIAA announced that The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill officially sold 10 million units to go diamond.
