Frameless sunglasses with colored lenses were a big deal in the summer of 2001 as well. Here’s Kristin Davis sporting a green pair at an event that July.

Britney Spears embraced the small sunglasses trend while in Brazil in 2001. Brit rocked hers with yellow-tinted lenses.

Melissa Joan Hart rocked rectangular frameless shades at the premiere of “Crazy/Beautiful” in Los Angeles in June 2001.

Remember when stars wearing tight white tank tops were everywhere? The undershirts even made appearances on the red carpet — Jessica Biel donned one that August at the Third Annual Teen Choice Awards.

While arriving at a screening of her movie “Legally Blonde” in July 2001, Ali Larter opted for a ubiquitous simple tight white tank top. She paired hers with white pants for a crisp look.

At an InStyle event in June 2001, Eliza Dushku showed up in a tight white tank with jeans and pointy-toe boots.

Big hoop earrings were a must-have accessory in 2001. Just check out Beyonce, who wore a pair to the “MTV Icon: Janet Jackson” event that year.

Mya sported seriously big hoop earrings in 2001 at that year’s Teen Choice Awards. The singer went with a pair nearly as big as her head!

Jennifer Love Hewitt embraced big gold hoops in July 2001 for the premiere of “Rush Hour 2.”

While on hand for a “VH1 Divas” event in 2001, “That ’70s Show” star Laura Prepon showed off her big hoops, which also featured multicolored stones.

Butterfly motifs popped up often in 2001 fashion. Here’s Britney Spears rocking a butterfly-emblazoned dress in Cannes, France — with hoops to boot!

If you needed a belt in the summer of 2001, there was one style that was all the rage… and didn’t even fit in the belt loops! Here’s Jessica Simpson showing off a trendy wide belt covered in grommets while performing on the “TRL Tour” in July 2001.

Taryn Manning was on hand for the premiere of “The Princess Diaries” in Los Angeles in July 2001 wearing some must-have 2001 summer trends — a wide belt around her short denim skirt and an off-the-shoulder top.

Here’s Mandy Moore at the premiere of “Original Sin” in July 2001 rocking a wide belt too (note how it also didn’t fit in her belt loops) plus another quintessential 2001 trend — a plaid Burberry bag.

Burberry bags were all the rage in 2001! Here’s Tara Reid sporting one in the brand’s signature plaid on the red carpet that year.

This next one should look familiar… back in the summer of 2001, Julia Stiles showed off a trend that has definitely come back in the last few years: the crop top. The star is shown wearing a tiny Mets tank that June.

Jennifer Lopez stopped by “TRL” in July 2001 rocking a crop top from her own line — see the bedazzled J.Lo logo at the bottom? She paired hers with a pair of white jeans and — what else? — a thick belt dotted with grommets.

Eva Longoria arrived at the premiere of “Summer Catch” in August 2001 wearing a trendy striped tube top and low-waisted jeans with square-toe heeled sandals.

Trucker hats! The very specific hat trend was all the rage during the summer of 2001. Gwen Stefani showed it off while simultaneously rocking a ubiquitous crop top at the Teen Choice Awards that August.

A lace-up detail was hot in 2001. Here’s Pink wearing one on her crop top at the MTV Movie Awards that June.

Melissa Joan Hart embraced the lace-up trend at the “ATLANTIS: The Lost Empire” premiere in June 2001. She rocked a teal blue blouse that laced up the front with a white floor-length skirt.

Kelly Rowland, Beyonce Knowles and Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child demonstrated that the lace-up trend didn’t only apply to tops! Here they are rocking Levi’s jeans with lace-up legs. Their jeans were also on-trend for another reason — just look at how low-waisted they were!

Super-low-rise jeans were rampant on red carpets and in celebrity street style in 2001. Here’s Carmen Electra donning a pair with a crop top and pink-lensed sunglasses.

Beyonce was clearly up on the hottest trends in 2001. Here she is performing in dangerously low-waisted jeans that year (while wearing frameless sunglasses!).

Lacey Chabert rocked very low-cut jeans at the premiere of “American Outlaws” in August 2021.

It doesn’t matter that the temperatures were heating up in the summer of 2001 — stars didn’t want to part with their Juicy Couture tracksuits. Here’s Jennifer Lopez rocking a pale pink set in July 2001 ahead of performing on the “Today” show in New York City.

It wasn’t just the tracksuits that made Juicy Couture famous in 2001. Stars loved everything from the popular brand — including its logo T-shirts. Singer Willa Ford showed off her Juicy Couture graphic tee at an event for the brand at Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles that July.

Bai Ling showed her love of Juicy Couture at that same event. The star rocked this red Viva La Juicy tee with other 2001 trends like low-waisted jeans and a thick belt.
